Default Help: How important is it to put back in Oil Jet?

In case you don't know what it is, here is the link to an h22 part list. it's number 28 in the diagram. Squirts oil on cylinders below the pistons.
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...+BLOCK-OIL+PAN

After taking my engine apart and throwing everything in a parts box, the oil jet got bent a little. So needless to say, it doesn't fit perfectly anymore. ON TOP OF THAT, with my new sleeves from GE, it has to be modified to fit now because of the nipple that holds it in place doesn't fit in the hole on the block anymore because the sleeves cover half of it.

SO...what I was wondering is how important is it for me to make sure I keep this (meaning, get a new one, modify it to fit), or just leave it off (if that's even an option).

any comments/suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

just bend it back and bolt it back down.
shave the little peg a bit if you must, but i've never come across that problem.

I forgot to mention, the clearance between the 4 ends of the oil jet and the crank are very VERY small. I've been trying to get it just right but it still seems to rub on the crank.

Plus I'm worried by bending it back, I might flatten it slightly, causing it to restrict the flow of oil. What do you think?

Never messed with preludes but you will have no oil pressure without it. Maybe it could be plugged and removed like the b18c's but not sure.

That's exactly what I was wondering...whether they could be plugged or not. I think i might end up ordering another just to be on the safe side. Never hurts to have it so why not...

my 2 cents is honda had them there for a reason....and the reason is

those jets of oil cool down the pistons, all vtec cars have them.

if you can figure a way to put them back it do it

Yea...but from what I was TOLD, since i have forged aluminum pistons, it's not as big of a deal because they won't need the cooling as much...but i hate relying on things people say they 'hear' but have no hard proof evidence...

Man, it's not cheap neither....$75 for the stinkin thing...

Oil jets on B18C are used to cool the cast pistons. I plug them on my race motors with forged pistons. Helps oil pressure, less spinning weight and less oil flying around.

If you don't put it back in..definitly plug it. My friends DSM partially broke an oil jet somehow..and now he suffers from low oil pressure at idle.

I am thinking he misshifted(which has happened to his car), and the rod compressed more then normal going down causing the piston skirt to hit the jet.....
