Smoke in air/bad for engine?
Well there are alot of forest fires burning around where I live, and as a result there is a TON of smoke in the air. I dont imagine that is very good for any car to drive in, let alone a turbo charged b18c. How much would an air filter really filter out this crap? Thank god I do have a backup vechile I can use to get to work in I dont want to drive my car in this crap.
hmm interesting question. do you not have a filter at all? if not i would suggest getting one. i know space can get tight but just because its turbo doesnt mean you no longer need something to filter the air going into your engine.
you should be running an air filter regardless of the quality of the air, but in this case (if u do have a filter) its not so much the particulates that will be a problem, its the lack of oxygen in the air.
Yeah I have an air filter, I have a L shaped peice of stainless coming out of the turbo and my air filter is pointed straight at the ground. A couple people told me it wouldnt be a problem but it was so damn smoky today even if I did take my car out I would have *****-footed around for sure. Guess I'll see what its like tommorow. Lol yeah eg 93 couper didnt know it was brutal over there too, thank god i dont have to work outside.
Geez, that must be annoying to see everyday. I wouldnt drive it if I had any questions at all about the oxygen in the air. Get yourself a wideband to be sure tho. That would tell you everything you need to know

the wideband only measures the charge density, thats how it makes its determination from air/fuel. It wont measure whether the engine is breathing in oxygen or methane, or carbon dioxide.
I dont know about that. I would think that the less oxygen in the air, the leaner the combustion...
