I just got a new em1 and it doesnt have powersteering. is it possible for me to put powersteering on it? and approximately how much would it cost? Help pleassseee!

 

It should have powersteering... What do you mean it dosen't have it? Does it currently have a swapped in manual rack?, looped power rack? cut belt? Details please, then we can figure out your options.

 

Since its a EM1 I'm gunna assume the pulleys, belt and pump and all that junk were cut/taken out.

 

not sure on parts cost but labor will cost around 150-250. just drive without it, after a while you kinda forget you don't have p/s lol, except when trying to parallel park, but now you can't curb your wheels lol

 

lol i guess your right but i mean its kinda annoying you kno? ive only had it for a week though. but i think it might have been taken out because of the ctr engine swap that they did? Not sure? but would it be more than 500 to fix?

 

Eventually youll forget you dont have powersteering. Once your moving you really cant tell it's not there.

Sounds like you basicly need everthing. Pump, resover, all lines. The person who installed the swap could have easly kept ac, it would have been the same for either engine.

If you do the work your self, the only way i can see it costing 500 is if you buy everything new. Get on the market place, a lot of perople remove power steering and then want to sell what they take out.

 

my advice if you really want p/s is to find someone who wants has p/s and wants to swap for your manual rack, trying to piece everything together separately isn't my cup of tea lol

 

yeah i already have the pump but i need everything else.. thanks though i guess ima just look for parts. is it hard to do it yourself???

 

How do you know he has a manual rack, unless it was swtich out he has a power.

Op, look at the rack and see if you see a looped line or anything, i really doubt you have a manual rack switched in, it isnt done all that often.
