Default light weight flywheel with 370whp?

I have the Fidanza aluminium flywheel installed since my turbo project, but I am not so happy with it. Aluminium can not take the heat so well as steel. I guess this flywheel has helped to damage my syncros, cause the clutch can not fully release from the flywheel and the syncros have more stress to bring the speed down. I had some stalling problems too.

Is a lighter flywheel realy that noticeable on my setup? I have no comparison, cause we installed it with the turbo and stuff together. This flywheel goes out for sure, but I am deciding between shaping some material off from the stock flywheel or buy some new light weight cromoly-steel-flywheel....which will cost again too much money

modified stock flywheel (shaping off a few pounds) VS cromoly steel flywheel ---> what are your thoughts

I have not installed it with my setup before the turbo. The Fidanza went in with the turbo, pistons, rods, injectors, Haltech, etc........so I can not compare before and after.

I have not said, that I know if this is the reason, but it is possible. My tuner thinks about this one too, but of cousre it can not said 100%, until it is taken appart.

Wouldn't a shaved stock flywheel be a bad idea with 370whp? It might not be strong enough.

You are right, a shaved flywheel can be a bad thing. The stock flywheel is ver thick, so a bit of shaving can not hurt.

You have ever compared a stock flywheel with an lighter one.

My stock flywheel is more than twice thicker than this Fidanza alu flywheel. And stock steel flywheel is for sure stronger than aluminium.

I run a JUN lighweight Chromemoly flywheel 10.14 lbs. It has always worked great for me just got it resurfaced for my new build, my numbers before the build were similar to yours very very close. Car accelarated very well with it no idle probs.

I have heard, there are some problems woth the starter. The teeth are not so well fitting.

Did you drive your car with an stock flywheel vs an lighter one with an equal setup? Realy that much difference?

How much is spooling up the turbo affected, wehn going with an heavier flywheel. I have heard, that 1/4 Mile runs are not much improved with lighter fyw, cause you loose in the 2nd 1/8 Meile time.

I was also worried about the starter problem with the teeth but I never had any probs myself. I lied I have a ZEX flywheel, confirmed with ZEX it is EXACT of the JUN came off the same assembly line . After putting the clutch and flywheel on it felt good, no times to compare, but my car always spooled alot quicker than friends with similar set ups. Cheetah on this board actually stated he dynoed horsepower loss and torwue loss from a lighter flywheel, I don't know if it was an aluminum one real light 7-8 lber. 10 lb aint bad IMHO.

I have a 7.5 LB Clutchmasters Flywheel. I didn't notice any difference really between that and my stock 18 LB?
