Nitrous Question
Right now I have a compete 2000 b16a2 head and block in a 93 DX hatchback. I have an 80 shot direct port setup on the car with A LOT of head work, but still running stock bottom end and stock compression. I'm about to rebuild a GSR block with a 9.1 compression pistons, so that when I get my turbo I can just bolt it in and raise the boost. When I drop my compression down that low, how much of a power loss am I going to be looking at even while spraying the nitrous?
thats a bad idea. just get pistons at 10:1 compression and run it on the n20 and then when u switch to turbo run the 10:1. w/ 9:1 itll be a slug off the bottle and when not in boost. u can run more hp w/ higher cr more efficiently. do the right thing. dont drop cr.
Ok correct me if I'm wrong, but you are the first person who has ever told me NOT to drop my comperssion ratio when running boost!!?? What I'm wanting to know is what kind of power am I going to lose during the time period when I drop my c.r. from when I had the stock compression? I'm going to be running too much boost to keep the stock c.r. anyway!! I'll be blowing **** up.....
dont drop it at all. stay 10:1. ur car will feel like poop when ur not on bottle and when ya switch to go turbo ull still feel lag if ur not spooln. u said that ud blow up the motor for the boost ur runing so im assuming ur gonna be using a larger trim turbo?....if thats the case enjoy the lag. if ur gonna be boostin ur gonna need management for this "large amount". just ask some of the other guys what they think, theyll reply soon enough. higher cr + boost =more hp vs low cr+ more boost, (ie 3 lbs)= still less hp.
dont believe the hype, im runnign on stock compression in my R . . which is 10.6:1 and ill tell you 1st hand , high compression loves fi . . . . trust me .
now dont go crazy on like 11.5:1, 12.0:1compression and try to do this, but i dont think 10.0 is bad at all let alone 10.6. its all in tuning man and knowing what the limits are. i know alot of people on my compression with big boost doing bis bis numbers.

11:5 and 100 shot would be awesome..
id go for that.
my motor will be done some time and its goin the same track as u ,..n20 first then boost+n20...its gonna be fun

Right now I'm running stock compression with an 80 shot direct port kit. On slicks at Houston Raceway the car ran a 12.30@115mph, and that was on type-r valve train and stock bottom end. Now I have a fully built head w/port/polish work, new valves..............the whole 9 yards, so I hope to hit some high 11.9's I already have the JE 9.1 compression pistons, so I plan on using them. As far as any turbo lag is concerned, I'm keeping the nitrous to pull me off the line.

I run 10 psi of boost + 70 shot of nitrous in my very stock motor with a halltech. Why does everyone think that these stock motors are weak. With the correct tunning you can you can run twice amt of boost (20psi) and nitrous and it will live as I have done it.
Roby........yeah that is in a 93 DX hatchback
I don't think that the motors are weak, but I'm driving it daily, so I want dependability.............until I get a new Tahoe or SUV to trailer it.
