Default Good d16 turbo build???

ok you want a mean D16 do this cheap bang for your buck

Tuner Toys rods
Vitaria pistons
OEM bearings
SHIMMED AND PORTED OIL PUMP or TOGA oil pump (DO THIS IF YOU WANNA BOOST A Y8 AND HAVE IT LAST)
ARP head studs
3layer head gasket

turbo kit. bang 300 whp

This is the build I am thinking of doing. Other then I am going to do eagle rods and acl race bearing. But the rest will be the same. Will this hold to 300 whp.

definitely. STOCK internals will hold about 220whp on a healthy motor

With this build is 300whp on my DD sound realistic?

300whp is no problem, but why do you want to shim the oilpump?

I'd be inclined to know what compression do those internals yield, how much boost you're attempting to run, on what kind of ECU with what size injectors, ect....COULD you make 300hp?? Of course you could, but will you without planning and strategic buying and tuning? Highly unlikely.

Psi doesn't really matter size of turbo does. And I would do a aftermaket oil pump not shim it. Also upgraded injector not dsm bs. And of course fuel pump. Also it will be a chipped and professional dyno tune p28 ecu. The only question I really have is with factory crank and sleeves will 300 whp be safe DD. And if it is how much hp can stock sleeves take I have searched and most 400whp is it. As for the crank it will be micro polished and balanced. Almost forgot the pistons are of course low compression for boost sorry don't have the ratio on hand.

You really don't need to worry about the crank at all. At 300whp, your stock sleeves will do just fine, no worries there. Realistically, yes you could make that power, but personally, I'd suggest doing some head work, although it isn't 100% necessary.

There are a lot of variables you left empty. What size injectors? What turbo? What engine management? You say chipped ECU, but that doesn't really say much to me. For all I know you could be talking about a Spoon chip off Egay. haha

Chipped I mean tuned on what ever JK tuning in PA is running. Like hondata, uberdata, chrome. These are the only tuning programs I know. But they run the best so I am guessing hondata. As far as fuel injector size I have no clue what size should I be looking at? Also what head work do you think? Aftermarket head gasket and Arp head studs for sure. Also if I turned up the boost what hp will i have to start worrying about the sleeves and crank?

P.s. Is vitara good pistons? I know there is more expensive and maybe slightly better ones. But the max I would hit if I could would be 400 whp on race day and 300 whp daily. I am going for the best with rods and bearings I just don't want the pistons to screw me over. All I have read is good reviews on them. Also would a block gaurd help any? I have no clue about them. I don't want to sleeve. And you know the numbers which I would like to obtain.

Ok I am going eagle rods with the parts listed above. Are vitaria pistons good? I have only read good things about them. I want 300whp daily drive 400 whp track. This car has stay together for at least two years. So I don't want to get vitaria because they are cheap and come to regret it. So any experience with the and any one run them for a long period of time?

Almost forgot. I don't need to machine anything to make them fit correct? Just attach to eagle rods and install?

You might need to notch the block with the vitaras

you need to notch the block, but not because of the pistons, because of the rods.

you dont say what head you are using so i cant tell you what the compression ratio will be.

but its is most likely going to be between 7.5:1 and 8.0:1 with standard length rods.

you should be able to make 300whp easily if you have enough turbo.

back from the dead because im building a D16 for my wago....

ive got Eagle rods and SRP forged pistons for 9.2:1 static comp....

Need help deciding on the "enough turbo" part. Any insight on turbo selection for a decent powerband at 300whp? obviously I could order up a GT40r or someshit and make at least 300hp but im looking for a turbo thats commonly/inexpensively available that is designed to max around 300 on a 1.6l. Thanks in advance

Interesting, I've never seen HP drop that fast up top.

DSM Big 16G should be good for your goal. Can be found pretty cheap used, make sure to check for shaft play etc. though, or a reman can be found in the $200 range.
