Si Rear Tire Wear
I dont know why Honda has not fixed this problem yet. After the first set wore out Honda did an alignment when the new tires went on, now the second set is wearing just like the first.
The service advisor recomends another alignment..."yea right". I said "can you not call Honda head office and make them aware of the problem?" He said there is nothing they can do, but if I like, I can call Honda customer relations. Im my head Im thinking "why the hell arent you (the dealer) doing that?"
So I call customer relations and explain my story and he runs the VIN and sees no recall notices related to the problem. At one point he says "I'm not sure why your dealer would get you to call here I'm not a mechanic, but I can take all your information and make note of the problem."
He also stated that the Si was not included in the Civic rear control arm recall because the rear suspension is different and that the Si comes with high performance tires which is why they wear faster. REALLY??? yet the other 98% surface area of my tire has all kinds of life left.
He then told me to have the dealer take tread depth readings and phone them into the Honda bullentin line. So I called my dealer back and told them to do so from the tire I had left with them.
I just dont get how they can ignore the Si when clearly they have the same problem as they other models.

I lowered my 07 sedan and just got an alingment yesterday. I have ingalls front kit and spc rear chamber kit. They set the rear chamber at -1.7 and -1.2 with a toe at 0.20. I was wanting to know what the factory readings were.

what's the camber setting in the front? did you mean -1.7 in the back and -1.2 in the front? for better turn in, you should set the camber in the front more negative than in the back. like i said above, stock camber settings are 0* in the front and -1* in the back, with toe at 0 front and back.
What are your current alignment specs? Is the car stock? If you don't know the current specs and/or didn't see the print-out from the alignment machine, then how do you even know if it's been set properly?
Stop taking it to that dealer and take it to a different one - one that has known good equipment and technicians who actually know what they are doing and aren't lazy ******. Without being a dick about it, make sure to explain to them that "within spec" isn't good enough for you - you want it set to dead center of the factory tolerance range. Ask for both "before" and "after" print-outs from their machine prior to handing over the keys. You might even want to tip them if they are willing to spend the extra time to get it perfect. Plenty of shops and technicians are content with doing a half-assed job and/or using busted equipment when it comes to alignments. Support the precious few out there who actually make the effort to do the job right.
You may want to snoop around on forums for your local SCCA chapter or autocross clubs and ask the members what shops they recommend for a good alignment.
I've made my living in the automotive repair business for 10 years now and I specialized in alignments (both Hunter optical rack and old-fashioned string box/trig method) and tires for several of those years, particularly for performance and competition applications. I was responsible for maintaining competition alignments for both purpose-built and street-driven autocross and track cars. I also moderated the Suspension forum here on H-T. I can assure you that I know what I'm talking about.
