need help asap on del sol in cali!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so heres the story. I just moved to California and I'm about to buy this sol for 2000 bucks he has a d16y7 in it with a p06 ecu. When i looked at the ecu it looked like a rats nest in there wires were everywhere. the cars pretty clean but the swap looks like it was just thrown in. also it sounds like it has a vacuum leak cause it idles up real fast and then goes down real fast. i seems to run fine besides that. I'm just worried about this smog inspection this here in california I'm not sure what the look for or need I'm new out here so tell me what you guys think? Is it worth the two grand and what do you think the idle problem is and how are they on the smog out here? thanks

$2000? keep looking , try to find a stocker with a D16Z6 in it or have the seller smog the one you're looking at
The VTEC DOHC weighs about 245lbs more that the D-series , I think Honda had to comply with insurance saftely protocols by beafing up the frame supports for crashes

what year is the car? a p06 certainly isnt the right ecu for that motor. i think you are going to run into problems with obd1 vs obd2.

my suggestion is to stay away from that car. you are correct in thinking the CEL should light up with key-on engine-off for 2 seconds while the fuel pump is priming then turn off. if that isnt happening then the bulb is removed or burnt out. also unless the p06 is chipped then its not going to run the car correctly. and probably wont pass smog.
