Default Piston to cylinder wall clearance?(Did Search)

I was wondering how tight do i need to run my piston to cylinder wall clearance? I have read articles on force induction piston to wall clearance. I was wondering on a N/A setup. Should i be running a tight clearance or a loose clearance. I have a B16A block and CTR piston's(std size). Could someone help me out on this one.

I think mine are at .0030, but I would say anywhere between .0026-.0030

I should note that I run aftermarket pistons though.

For a B18C1, the clearance is .0004" to .0016". Service limit of .0020". You might wanna run a little looser for FI, but piston slap might be a problem if you run too loose.

This is for stock cast pistons, not forged aftermarket. Ask the piston manufacturer for proper clearance.

What would be negative things about running a loose piston to cylinder wall clearance? If i was close to the .0045mm. Could anyone help me out on this. What type of pistons are honda OEM. Are Straight cast without silicon or do they have silicon?

.0045 mm or .0045 inches? Huge difference. .0045 inches on a cast Honda piston would be way too much clearance as measured from the proper location on the piston.

My buddies run stock Honda pistons on the tight side of the stock tolerance and it works great. This includes the CTR pistons.

Interesting to note too that if that minimum clearance on stock Honda pistons is 0.0004 inches then the cylinders probably don't distort when the head is bolted on and hence a torque plate is probably not needed when honing.
