Default jdm b16a bad idle

k, well i have a b16a and i changed out my stock IM for an Edelbrock IM. The edelbrock doesn't have space for a FITV so I took it out and blocked off the coolant line running to there. I cleaned my IACV. The idle fluctuates from 1-2k rpms. Should I have not blocked off the coolant line and instead ran the hoses normally just without the FITV, or could the IACV just have gone bad(car idled fine before the change) The car doesn't idle well even after its warmed up..need some help here.. Thanks HT

Check for an air leak. If there is none, then bleed the cooling system.

Try to adjust the idle screw on the throttle body.

i took the FITV out and plugged up the hose. should run the lines as normal, just without the FITV or is plugging the hose sufficient?

correct me if im wrong but doesnt the FITV attach to the throttle body. changing the IM shouldnt not effect fitment. are you sure you dont have the FITV and IACV mixed up? I have a victor-x and still have both of those pieces installed.

Okay, same thing. It may be secured to the IM but its functional connection is to the bottom of the throttle body, right? Or does it supply air directly to the IM and not via the lower port in the throttle body?

If you don't have hoses attached to the FITV to circulate coolant, then the FITV will remain open and cause a high idle. Or did you block off the air hole from the FITV to the IM. If so, how do you know it is not leaking?

the edelbrock IM doesnt have a spot for the FITV. This is why i took it out and just blocked off the coolant lines that ran to it. My question is: Should I run the coolant lines that went to the FITV how they were originally, just without the FITV; or is it ok to just block off the lines from each side..?

I'd couple the two ends so that coolant is allowed to flow through the hoses. This will also prevent air from getting trapped in the system. Once reconnected, bleed the system thoroughly again.
