kamikaze headers on gsr w/ jr supercharger
i read on here that kamikaze headers are the best to go w/ the jr supercharger. and it seems like w/out the jr supercharger and w/ the header, the gsr actually loses power. anyone have any experience w/this? i'm planning on getting the jr supercharger so i'm tryin to prepare right
Don't bother. It's not the shiznit it's reputed to be. Plus the build quality is not so good. Go with a one piece design.
I traded a great one piece stainless header for a Kami and wish I could have my old header back. The Kami netted me absolutely nothing at the drag strip.

My kami has the 2.5" collector and the spear. However, it has to throttle down to a 2.25" straight pipe.
It doesn't seem to me like headers make that much difference for JRSC Hondas. Obviously, get rid of the stock manifold, but beyond that, get one that's well built. They make very little difference on a well tuned car.
I learned this the hard way! All the huge HP claims from Kami headers seem to involve many more mods than just the header.
DC Sports 4-2-1 headers seem to be decently regarded by many JRSC drivers and they're cheap.

I can't disagree with Mr. Holden, because he is usually right. Perhaps we have just a bit different points of view on this subject. I would suggest that addition of a 2.5 Kami header and some kind of high flow cat will get you significant gains over stock. In my case, 24.8 whp and 12.9 tq. Would I have made the same with a 4-2-1? Don't know; but I do know this was the most inexpensive whp gains I made with the teg.
Dyno sheet, diff is Kami 2.5" header and SMS Carsound cat:

How very polite!
But... your example is one like I was talking about. You ditched the stock cat at the same time you put the kami on. I put a straight pipe on first. Compared to that huge butt dyno change, headers don't seem to matter much.

Holy power gain, Batman!
I went from the stock manifold/downpipe + stock cat to a Kamikaze + 2.5" carsound cat on my old Civic Si. JRSC was at 6psi. It felt significantly faster than the stock setup, but I sold it because it fit like absolute *** (understatement). The Si Kamikaze header is the worst fitting header I have ever seen. Curiously enough, the GS-R header seems to fit ok and the ITR header fits perfect on the Civic Si. If I had gone with the ITR Kamikaze header, I probably would have kept it.
Like Greg said though, multiple things were changed at once. I probably got some power out of the header and some power from the cat. Looks like Bill had the same experience. Greg's setup was already heavily modified when he swapped in the Kamikaze.

hey holden did you see the gb on the custom 3" exhaust piping, its dirt cheap. i bought that kit and will be installing it soon. i went from a dc 421, high flo cat, greddy sp exhaust, to the kamikaze that i will flare to 3" at the high flo cat to the 3" exhaust. hopefully i'll get it dynoed in a couple of weeks.
I'm all done modding my car. No new parts except for tires and replacing things that broke.
And yes, 3" exhaust would be crazy loud. Mine's already loud enough to keep from flooring it in quiet areas.
