long or short gears for nitrous
i have a 99 integra with basic bolt ons and a wet kit now to run a 50 - 75 shot. i know that b16 or gsr transmission would make the car accelerate quicker, but i once heard that you want long gears like the ls transmission for nitrous so you can spray longer. is this true? should i stick with my ls tanny?
in reality yes, the LS tranny will allow you to spray longer then a shorter geared tranny, but alot of times thats used in turbos cause of spool times. i think with a shot it wont matter cause its instant power
If you're drag racing, you want to almost top out in 4th gear at the end (1/4 mile). You'll find a b16 trans is like a 6 speed w/o 6th gear (overdrive), and the LS is like a 4spd that does have overdrive. The heavy jump in torque when nitrous starts will tend to rip the tires loose in 1st moreso with the B16 than a gsr or ls trans.
For daily driving & torque, I prefer the LS trans. I'd suggest keeping it until you find you need more accelleration, but can't add more nitrous safely.
