I have a 2001 civic lx, last night i decided to play in it and see how fast it would go. Come to find out it peaks at 100 and wont push past it at all and is running 6000 rpm. Is this normal? I figured it would top out a little higher.

 

I've done 110 when I was in a rush. I'm sure some have pushed the d17 further.

 

1.. that is incredibly unsafe.
2.. you need more power to go any faster
3.. top speed is pointless unless you are doing HPDE events
4.. acceleration is much more fun, get a turbo
5.. UNSAFE, refer to number 3

 

I think the ecu is governed at 125 but I'm not sure about this. And like he stated above it is highly unsafe! And I don't condone doing that unless its on a closed corse. Plus it takes you like 10 min's to get there lol.

 

hm... I think I've gone probably 118 but i didnt want to burn my motor. haha. But like they said.. It's unsafe.. I was on a wide open straight away and felt confident enough because no one else was around me.

 

I hit 212 kmph (132 mph) on a closed highway(it was just finished and was yet to open to the public), Thats the most i could squeeze out of it, it just wouldnt go any faster.

but if your attempting to reach top speed on public roads you need to check yourself here bro, you could kill someone, or a whole family, or yourself.
Keep it on the track dude.

 

this question has been covered before to the OP don't so stupid stuff like say you'll kill someone or yourself and keep it on the track. Don't come crying on here about the next time you try to find out your top speed and you get a fat ticket and have no money asking how to get out of it
