Set idle mixture by vacuum or what?
My '88 accord dx, carb, 4-cyl is running lean. I've got access to the a/f mixture screw (took about 15 minutes to do) but to what metric do I set it? Highest vacuum, particular O2 sensor voltage, etc?
Thanks.
Marc
Thanks.

Heh... sorry if not many people can help with carb'd accords here
My dad always tuned his old Subaru Brat via a factory vacuum guage somehow (it didnt have an O2). I'd call him up and ask, but hes out of town.

Back in the "old days" you set the idle mixture to the highest "steady" vacuum reading . It is possible to get a higher reading with some fluctuation but I was taught you set it where the needle was as steady as possible. Of course that was back in the day when computers used key punch cards and were the size of a mobile home.
