Weird chipped ECU issues (on crome)
This may be long, I apologize.
I have a boosted 98 Civic DX, b18b1 converted and running OBD1 with a jumper harness for the ecu. I ran the car boosted for a week on my chipped P06 with crome. One day it just decided to not fire, gave me a solid CEL. From my searching and asking around I figured I needed a new ecu. I bought a socketed PR4, fired my chip in it, and same thing, solid CEL, runs in limp mode. Okay maybe I just happened to buy a bummed ECU.. I tried another socketed P06, put my chip in it, same thing, solid CEL. So obviously I think the chip is bad... I have tried all 3 chips I have laying around me (at least 2 were known to be good, unless I have now fried them). all 3 of them give me a solid CEL in all 3 computers. I can pull the jumper for the chip in my first P06 I had, and the solid CEL goes away.. I can't try it on the other 2 since they are just hard wired in.
I tried a chip that happened to come with my last P06 I bought. The chip was for a B16 just tuned a bit. It does NOT give me a solid CEL, it gives me code 21, something for vtec (which I obviously dont have). I only tried it in the P06 it came with, im scared to plug that chip into another ecu and possibly fry it.
So essentially what im dealing with:
3 ECU's
4 chips
All give me solid CEL, EXCPEPT the B16 mapped one.... Does this mean I possibly fried those first 3 chips somehow... and I just need a new one?
The other thing, is the odd time I turn the key to on the IACV stays on and tries to jam itself as open as it can... I checked all the wiring and its good.. that possibly connected to the ECU issue?
I hope all that made sense.
