got a stock b16 with stock b16 tranny and clutch... took car to the track just to see what it would run in my ej... didnt even burn out, just launched it... and went to hit 2nd gear, it wouldnt go in... so, i drove it off the track and around the streets and no matter what rpm its at, it grinds when i try to put it into 2nd gear... even if i try to speed match the synchros, it wont go to 2nd...

is this the clutch possibly since it is oem?? or does this sound like im gonna need a new tranny???

Check the tranny fluid.

 

Also check to make sure your clutch master/slave cylinders and motor/trans mounts are in good shape. If it shifts smoothly in to all the other gears, but only 2nd grinds, probably time for a rebuild.

 

tranny fluid is fine...didnt see any metal chunks either wen i drained some out last nite to check... brand new hasport mounts... clutch fluid is fine...no leaks from master/slave cylinder...etc....

any other ideas? oem clutch goin bad? idk

I would just think a bad synchro or a bearing problem?

 

if it works fine in all other gears its not a clutch problem, its transmission problem, most likely you severly messed up the dog/engagement teeth on 2nd gear along with the slider and synchro ring. Pull the tranny apart and see just how bad it is.
