Default Compression Test results - Help me diagnose

For starters me and my dad went in half on a 1991 honda civic hatchback, interior was in really great shape and we got it for 600 bucks. The original owner said one day the engine just died.

We towed the car home and the first thing I done was a compression test.

All four cylinders are 0. I dropped small amounts of oil in the cylinders, still 0.

My first guess is valves, but I'm really not sure as i've never went thru this process before.. I believe it's DPFI and the engine is a D15B1, I'll verify here shortly.

Any help from you guys is appreciated

You can just remove the oil cap and have some crank it over and look into the hole with a flashlight and if the cam is not turning then the timing belt is broken.

timing belt or somehow all of the valves are way out of adjustment or bent or burnt or something of that nature. no unusual noises when cranking?

when cranking for the test does the needle move at all and then fall back to 0? or does it stay at 0?

Just did this and the cam is indeed spinning.

Timing belt seems to be intact, if it's in time or not i do not know just yet.

Not really any unusual noises.. Seems like it's spinning a little bit fast

Just zero, didn't move at all.

I just posted so maybe I could get an idea if this engine is trashed or not, If i could slap a head on it that would be great, but if i haft to find another engine no big deal.. I've found one for 225 locally.

This, or is the cam broke. 2 years ago I bought a 1990 4 door civic with a broke cam right down the middle. Took a while to diagnose no spark because the last thing, I though of was is the cam even turning on the distributor/rotor side of the engine.

pull the VC off and see whats going on in there. check vlave lash, crank it with the VC off to watch vertything move. also pull off the radiator cap as you crank and see if there are any bubbles coming out there.

Maybe your gauge is broken? Try it on one cylinder of another engine. If it works then you either have bent/burnt valves or holes in your pistons. I would lean towards valve but at any rate the head would need to come off for inspection. Its possible the timing belt is stripped but has enough to turn the cam and it has bent the valves.

checking the gauge is a good idea, also put ur hand over the oil cap hole while cranking before you pull the VC off to see if the rings are letting the compression leak.

That was my first thought..As soon as I seen 0, ''This gauge is junk'' then i did all cylinders then I presumed to do a compression test on my jdm itr engine which yielded great numbers. So it can't be the gauge. Let's say it is in the head and the valves are f*cked, What are the chances it's hurt the pistons as well?

Hell yeah dude, Your more than welcome to stop by the house any time.. I guess you could say this is one of those father son projects..honestly i've never tore a honda engine completely down before, but i'm ready.. with the help of dad/friends

If you've got something we could put together for around the 200-250 range, i'm game.. I would love to get this car on the road very soon so I'm not having to daily drive my integra.

From my understanding it's going to take some wiring to swap in a d16z6..?

You gonna track this car or are you using this car to get the Rs off the road?

Newtron our location is the secretest of secret. I'll give you a hint though. If Lane Kiffin ever comes back to our town I'm pretty sure he'll be set on fire.
