Car Amp Problems - RCA is ****ed?
Hey everyone. So I research this over and over and in the end it comes down to good old honda tech
. If you don't wanna read all of it then the main ideas are bolded.
So I recently did my amp/sub woofer set up (Crunch brands) and it was working fine, booming perfectly each song. I was happy.
Then one day I was installing my fog lights at a certain location and I forgot my wires at home, so I decided to take my amp's wire from the amp to the sub woofer. Just simple positive and negative copper wires, I had like 50 feet at home, so it'd be no big deal rewiring it.
So my fogs were good, and when I rewired it at home, the amp turns on, but the sub woofer doesn't work. So at first I thought my sub was blown or something, but then I re-wired it 20 times, cutting more and more copper out each time, and it still didn't work. Then I used my butt buddy's amp and plugged his amp into my sub woofer and it was booming perfectly, so I came to the conclusion that my sub woofer wasn't blown.
Then I thought hey, is it the RCA wires? Maybe its loose in the back? So I plug them out out the amp, and son of a bitch, the amp doesn't power on. What the hell does RCA have to do with powering the amp? Honestly ... So w/o my RCA cable, the amp doesn't turn on. So I can't test my sub with the RCA extension into my iPod (if that makes sense ...). So it could be that the RCA cable is either loose behind the head unit, or its broken ..?
I know it has nothing to do with my ground, speaker, or power wire. They are working fine ... But my unreliable butt buddy says its the power wire not enough power .. wtf? So I take my amp out, and plug it into his sub woofer, and my amp powers his sub woofer perfectly (using his wires, not mine)
So I have 2 solutions -
1. Remove my headunit and check the RCA cable/replace it ...
2. Buy a new amp
Honestly, I don't think its the RCA, because I never seen an RCA having to do with powering an amp. My butt buddy's amp works fine w/o the RCA. Its not a pyramid sub woofer and amp, its a real Crunch brand from Fry's lol.
Any suggestions? Let me know, any help is appreciated greatly, thanks HT.

Check all your wires, make sure ground is toucing bare metal. Not likely the problem but its good to make sure.
Rca's really dont cost that much money so it worth a shot to replace them. Even if it isnt the problem at least it doesnt cost that much money.
I have rockford fosgate's in mine and havent had any issues with them.
