Default 4 channel amp protect mode.

My sony 4 channel amp will only work on high input... Everytime I try to connect the speakers it goes in protect mode. I tried it with subwoofer wires and it works fine.

I had the same amp in my car before they stole it and it worked fine. The messed up thing that's confusing me is the color wires for the right front make noise on the left as if the wires are crossed somewhere but it never affect my last amp.

I'm using 12 or 14 gauge speaker wire. Ground is good as I tried sub amp with it. Sometimes the light will be green with 2 channels connected then goes into proect as I start the car.

Please help me out here.... Should I get a new amp or speakers.

Amp: Sony Xplod 600 watt xm series 4 channel.
Front Speakers: 6.5 " 4 way 160 watt peak
Rears: 6x9 # way 270 watt peak

Blown speakers will throw an amp in to protection. I would hook everything up and run the amp. If it goes in to protection disconnect one of the speakers and run it again. If it still goes into protection hook back up the speaker you unhooked and unhook a different speaker. Then try it again. Keep hooking and unhooking speakers till you find your potential bad one. could be the amp but if its running the sub ok, its prob fine.

I got this sorted out guys. I was sending audio signal to the amp twice. both from the rcas and from the radio. So basically the external and radio amps were fighting. My cousin (a computer/audio) tech. showed me that I need to disconnect (cut) speaker wire output completely from the radio harness (it's cut where it can join again if going back stock). But basically everything goes to the amp outputs and rca input.

Thanks for the help!!!
