i bought my 98 hx coupe for 1300 it has 2 problems, the speedometer works sometimes and not others, and has a cel code, egr valve -

i just wanted to show what is is and wanted some advice on what should be done or what some of you would do to it, any advice would be good

so far its got a 2 inch drop on some rota slips but the springs are kinda lower in the back by a tiny bit it bothers me ( bronze in pics but gonna paint em black)

i really wanna do alot to it but just dont know where to start

I'd start by cleaning it, that motor's nasty!

What I do is cover my dizzy, intake with plastic bags, spray it all down with simple green and spray it off with the hose, then repeat and scrub some where stuff didn't spray off well.

As far as what to do with it, take a month or two to look all around h-t an you'll get many ideas of where to go with it.

 

The EGR just needs to be taken off and cleaned with brake cleaner/seafoam. I done this to my Hx and the CEL went away.

 

Yes, clean/scrape out the EGR valve and chamber.

If there's no VSS CEL code, the speedo or speedo wire/connector is the problem.

 

Looks like you got a decent deal Yeah, put some love into detailing your engine....i always replace rusted bolts, scrub down certain metal parts with steel wool, clean cables, ect
