Default custom cai questions

okay i have a few questions about a little project i did today out of pure boredom firstly i have a aem cold air intake that is pretty nasty but i did this just to do (ill have pics soon) but itspretty much just a bent piece of pipe at a 90 degree angle with a filter on the end i did a custom heat sheild 70%around it sept the back side is exposed by the fire wall the heat sheild goes all the way down by the oil slump then flares out to catch air from below the engine but it looks really sick for like 40 minutes of hammering a peace of metal to fit and cutting a old ebay intake pipe down to just the curved pipe but if it a good idea to keep it on if i hit a puddle will it go right into my intake or most likly no i can hear it roaring at 3k+ rpms sounds just sick but besides the heat sheild/heat sink
its more or less just right by the tranny close to the engine thanks btw i didnt notice any lose of gain in accl or power besides sound

I would still recommend bypass filter to prevent hydrolock.
Pics or it didn't happen

So you put an air filter right next to a hot engine?

Why not just buy a $10 CAI from eBay and save yourself the time and actually isolate it

I'm as confused as you are...

Definitely want pics to see this odd-ball setup.
