So as a part of my ongoing track car build, I am going to rebuild the steering rack. But I have some questions about it.

Obvious things to replace:

#20 Rack Ends (inner tie rods)
#25/27 Outer Tie Rods
#10 Rack End bushing
#23/24 Dust boots
#14/15 Boot bands
Rack Mount bushings (will replace with ES poly bushings)

so those are the obvious things to do. but what else will i need to replace? or whats good to replace? what is still available to get from Honda? of the three main online dealers (Majestic, HPD, HPC) they all seem to have different parts available. no one seems to have the pinion bearing though.

what grease should i use to reassemble? do i have to worry about the grease breaking down in this selection?

 

When i did mine, I also did along with what you put; 38, 8, 28, and 29. I pulled mine apart completely, and soaked it in my parts washer, cleaned it WELL, blew out the water/dried it by hand, regreased everything, and put it back together according to HELMS specs.

If push comes to shove, I have 1 #38, 4 #28, 2 #29, 1 #14, 1 #15, IIRC I also have 1 #12, and I also have 2 steering knuckle dust boots which are not in the pic above. PM me if you need/want any of those parts, I have em here in my stash of OEM parts.

 

where did you find Energy steering rack bushings? I can only find them for "power steering" models only.

 

you can get them on ebay for like 10 bucks. but i originally had them as a part of the hyperflex full poly kit. i never used them, but i might have lost them as that was like 5 years ago. ill have to look.
