Color of car on registration or title? (State of CA)
Hey everyone, I am asking this for my friend. My friend is looking at a civic at a junkyard and the entire car is primered and he isn't sure what the original color of the car was. The engine bay is black, so it's possible the original color of the car is black, but is a car's color on the registration or title? I looked at my car's registration for my 2000 Civic and no where on the registration does it state the car's color. I have yet to look at my title. Anyone know a definitive answer?
Yea, I mean the logical conclusion is that its blakc. I have not seen the car, it's my friends question. He just wants to know if the color is stated on a California registration or title, thats what he wants answered more than anything.
pull up the carpet, or take off the little black thing behind the side mirrors. chances are they didnt paint the entire inside of the shell.
and i think its tied to the registration because my car used to be red you can see it under the carpet, but when i went to swap my plates the car came up blk under the registration, there was nothing listed on the title.

Try asking in the regional section.
Could also call up the CA DMV and ask where they get the color information from.
I did a Google Image Search for "california vehicle registration" and found photos of registrations btw. Most of the examples I see don't show a color listed. Only one did.
But those could be out of date. Post in regionals or call the DMV.

our registrations dont have the color of the vehicle on them. however, sometimes you can tell the original color of the car by the vin number. i'm not sure if the civics color was on the vin. i'm also thinking the original was black.

I know you can't figure out the car color through the Honda VIN look up in Hondanet2000. maybe the current system will say. None of the VIN breakdowns I've even seen by Honda have shown a way to tell the original color by the VIN either.
that's too bad. i know you can decode the original color on an s2000, just wasn't 100% on <MY2000 Hondas.
I do know that if you sign up for Honda Owner Link you'll be told the original interior and exterior colors of the car.

you're right, again.
for the record, this conversation never happened.
