Can you guys help me out? What does the latch (ie the piece the metal loop locks into look like when the hatch is UP. Second while the hatch is up and you push the switch on the hatch that you'd use to open the hatch, what happens to the latch? I know it's an odd question, any help is appreciated, thanks.
The latch, switch, and hatch are akin to a doorlock, doorknob, and a door.
Using your key to unlock the latch (doorlock) only affects the locking and unlocking of the latch.
If the hatch (door) is open and you play with the locking mechanism, this merely "locks" the lock, though without the other half of the lock, you're effectively locking nothing in place.
Playing with the switch while the hatch is open is like turning a doorknob on a open door. It affects nothing.
