Default Painting interior plastics.

All of my interior pieces are faded blue. I've seen the SEM vinyl paint used to paint dashes and whatnot and it came out fine. Has anybody know of a good paint to use for a good OEM flat black look, I don't like that cheesy glossy stuff. Anybody ever done this? Suggestions? Comments? Gripes? Concerns?

Sem Landau black = killer stuff, just wash it really well before you spray it, do light coats it turns out really good.

However on my EG i noticed the A pillar plastic parts were a different kind of plastic same with the rear plastic where the rear glass is held up by the pressurized shocks, I had to use Krylon Fusion for spraying them, they are glossy but it was 3 years ago when I did that so I think there might be some other option out there.

Honestly try a bunch of different types of paint best bet is to try on a large panel piece and use the back side.

I generally will wash it, spray it and let it sit out in the sun a good couple hours then attempt to scrap the paint off with a nail.

I did my entire EG with 95% SEM Landau black and 5% Krylon Fusion black. turned out really good. and it looks OEM semi gloss, besides the Fusion parts.

message me on aim if you have any questions.

Just make sure you take your time and prep it good or it will flake off and look like crap.

prep is key like painting anything but especially with this plastic. I found it good to use a fresh scotch brite pad to scuff it lightly, then wash it really nice, wiping everything down with acetone helps too.
Then really light coats and let it sit a couple days before handling.

i use SEM products on the daily i am a mobile interior repair guy so i know first hand about that stuff...really all u need to do it wipe the area with thinner that will pull all of the oils and dirt right off(dont soak it that can cause the plastic to get lil cracks all over...thats a mess)also make sure u dont spray it when its real humid out like after it rains and the sun comes rite out is THHEEE WORST time to do it...the moisture pulls the thinner to the surface and makes it...what i call blush...turns kind of white and you will never get the color right...and yes do use light coats if you spray it on real wet it will cause the oem dye to bubble/peel up

I have fallen absolutely in love with this stuff. It is a 5 star product for sure.

Starting out, dirty, ugly faded blue.

Soaked it with Purple Power, you should have seen the brown crud and gunk coming off of it, and it didn't look that bad!

Lightly scrubbed with a 3M scuff pad, to scuff the surface and loosen all the dirt.

Hosed it off real good and let it sit in the sun for a little while to dry.

Painted! I colored all the edges first, the sprayed 2 light coats, then one medium coat to finish it off. Came out fantastic!

Others:

It took 2 cans to do all of the rear interior, all but the other large peice. I ordered two more cans to do everything else, I'm doing all but the dash because it looks good, and I don't want to pull it. Haha

Thank you guys for all the input!
