Default Motor problem-d15b

Okay, I was driving the car one day and everything was fine. Came home and parked it.

The next day I went to start it and it would turn over but not start. I tried to jump it with my s2000 and it didnt go. So...I took spare spark plugs out of my other motor out, and replaced my old spark plugs. The car sputtered and started.

While it was running, I would rev the motor and it would bog and die on the way down from the revs. The motor was smoking from the exhaust a little bit, but I figured it was from burning the gas from the previous attempts to start up.

I went to start it up again today because I went out of town, and the car will not start once again but will turn over.

Any ideas? Please help me its my dd. Thanks guys.

First check your grounds. The best way IMO is with a meter set to resistance. Stick the black probe in the battery negative post and touch the red to cleaned bare metal that a ground strap is connected to; the valve cover for example. No resistance is a good connection. You can do a cheap check on your fuel system by priming the engine a few times before trying to start it. Turn the key to on so you hear the pump turn on, turn the key back to off and repeat 3 times and then crank it. If this helps and the filter hasn't been replaced in awhile, get a new fuel filter. If none of these checks find the problem, come back and we'll test the ignition.

Assuming it's the JDM D15, what car is it in and what ecu are you using?

In addition for listening for the fuel pump priming, also check for spark at all four plugs. Spark should be bright white.

Did you do this^^?

Replacing parts at random will become expensive very quickly and will not ensure a fix. You must do some troubleshooting.

And I replaced the plugs just because they needed replaced soon :p

But the filter was because I can hear the fuel pump.

So there is bright white spark at all four plugs and the fuel pump primes, right?

If so, are there any CEL codes? Have you checked the mechanical timing?

If you had good spark, then there was no need to replace the ICM.

Seriously, if you have time to replace parts at random, then you have time to do some basic troubleshooting.

-Check for spark
-Check whether the fuel pump primes
-Check for CEL codes
-Check the mechanical timing
