Default Coolant sensor locations D-16y7 block

The sensor mounted on the thermostat cover is called the ECT? This sensor controls the rad cooling fan?

What is the sensor located directly next to the upper rad hose?

Fan switch - 2 wire, located on thermostat housing
ECT/TW sensor - 2 wire, sends engine temp signal to ECU
Coolant sensor - sends engine temp signal to gauge

What are the signs and symptoms of a failing fan switch? If you jump the fan switch plug and the fan does work then replace the fan switch. What if the fan operates but intermittently, causing the temp guage to climb towards the red zone then it turns on?

Does the fan work intermittently with the switch connector jumped?

If jumping the switch connector causes the fan to run continuously as opposed to sporadically when it is connected to the switch, then first try bleeding the cooling system. If that does not help, then replace the switch.

-------------------------------
The bleed procedure may take 20-30 minutes:

1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.

2) Push the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat.

3) Follow the directions in the diagram below

Thanks, it was bad fan switch. I took it out and the tip was all gunked up. I replaced it and rebled. Never saw so many bubbles. Fan operates as normal with no turn on hesitation
