OK i bought a kenwood kdc-mp738u head unit for my eg hatch 94 its been working great for the past 4 months now all of the sudden i hooked my ipod to it and it froze and started showing a protect mode and won't go anywhere from there, i pulled it check the wires everything is fine, i rand different power and ground and still the same i don't know what else to do, it works perfect in my wife 92 ex so the head-unit is fine, but is driving me crazy it won't work on my car. Any ideas of what it could be?

 

your car is telling you to take that new age crap out of its system haha. idk dude just incest in a new headunit. look into the alpine 50watt apple ipod ready in dash deck. all ready setup to an iphone, ipod and mp3. buy it at bestbuy and install it yourself. model # if you need it CDE-103BT. best one you don't need the HD and sattelite radio thingy. you'll spend under 300 bucks

 

Have you tried a different Ipod or wire?

 

So it's in protect mode. Mmm, I have the Kenwood MP342U. The protect mode usually comes on when I take the face off before I turn the car off or so lol. What I do is, unplug the battery and wait for a few seconds then replug. It should reset everything and the headunit should work again.
