aiight i recently bought a 96 civic EX coupe with a y7 motor in it
also got a y8 head to go along

now its still y7 head and block with the stock p2p ECU

for some reason when driving its fine all the way up to 5500rpms then seems to redline...not sure where to start diagnosing the problem...my buddy is bringing the computor over so we can pull the codes....

anyone have any suggestions on what it might be or anyone had this problem and found the solution

what! all my years of owning honda's this is a first i've ever heard of...lol @ 5500rpms it redlines!? i guess buy a new motor sounds like its ready to blow up! lol wow

 

lol im being dead serious i will get vids if it helps....it just wont go past it...i dont think its about to blow at all..cause it was freshly swapped in it...and i know this cause i helped pull the old one out.....but it seems to furl cut or redline at 5500 its wierd....i was told the dizzy could be doin it

 

uhhh....yeaaa haha idk kid its just weird that its doin that man. i guess post a vid up or something cuz like i said in my previous statement i've never seen or heard of that before in my entire life. that's weird

 

ok we found the problem...its a originally a y8 car with a vtec p2p ecu

tere is a y7 in it now and its getting a p1259 code which is vtec malfunction and its just cutting out at vtec egaging point...so imma start on this y8 head putting it back togethor.....

 

Install the Y8 head to match with the ECU.

 

correct kind sir....just need to go pick up the y8 head gasket and a new vtec pressure switch and im good to go
