Hello, help with purchase(06 AT 108k miles)
Hello fellas, i am in the middle of a deal where i can get an 06 civic ex AT sedan, with about 108K miles. its for my wife, she loved the car and we are getting a pretty sweet deal on it(under 8k for it)
My question is, what do i look for when i go to actually inspect it? Any issues with this years model i should know about? I heard some people complaining about motor problems or stuff? any info on what to look for would be great.
BTW, i already test drove it and it felt solid, ran it up to 85 miles and it felt good, but tomorrow or tuesday i will be going back for the final inspection, and will have the money with me so if it all looks good i'll have a new baby in the family LOL, thanks

- Cracked block. Have that inspected.
- Transmission:
--Jerky shifts from 2-1-2. Sucks if you're in traffic. But my solution is keep it in second gear.
--Jerks when doing a running stop. Try this in a parking lot: Drive so that the car shifts to 2nd gear, slow down as if you're coming up to a stop sign (5-7mph), then quickly accelerate. It'll jerk like a ****.
--Jerk when coming up to a complete stop, around 3mph to 1mph. This isn't as bad as the other two, though.
- Wheel bearings. There was a recall for that.

Great!!! Thanks, will def. check out the tranny sounds and also the wheel bearings, but how do i check for a cracked block? Im not taking it to a mechanic, just gonna check it out myself...
how do i check for bad headgasket, or overheating issues??? Thanks

overheating issues you can turn the car on let it sit for a long period of time with the AC on and drive it. If it goes to the 3/4 line then might be something wrong. Look around the head and see if you see lots of oil running down after runnign the car. Thats a sign of bad headgasket. Cracked block, just look around and see if you can see anything.
Wheel bearings make a "wheering" noise, if you understand what sound I'm trying to spell. You can do long exagerated weeving within your lane and the noise (if there is one) will change pitch. That's a bad wheel bearing. Do I makesense, or I'm just confusing.
