Default Help!

i need your h-t experteise, i went to go drive my car a few days ago and their was this real thick horrible burning smell in my car, so bad it gave me a headache, when i'm driving the smell kicks in sometimes when i shift into 2nd and third gear or when my shifting isn't perfectly smooth, my dad said he thinks it smells like burning antifreeze but theirs no leak, and my gut tells me its the clutch, the car has 53k miles on it, i've driving it pretty hard since i bout it, which was about 2k miles ago, and the person that owned it before me, i'm pretty sure didn't drive it very hard. By the way, the car is a 96 teg SE, recently it hasent been smelling as much, i only get a wiff about once a day, but the first day i smelt it it was horrble, almost making me pass out behind the wheel and the smell was constant all day, let me know what you guys think, cuz i dont know what to do, or specifically what it is, thanks.

If you have ever burned up some brake pads, then you know what a burning clutch smells like. Smells like rotten fish or something, right?
That would be your clutch. Probably time for a new one - any other symptoms of a bad clutch ?

Possibly something like a plastic bag caught/melted on your exhaust. This happened to me once, it was a constant, very strong burning smell. Might check it before pulling your car apart. HTH
