I have a 98 civic ex and the Power Window works fine when the door is open but once you close it then it doesn't work.

My Dome light doesn't work at all. The bulb is fine.

You should get ahold of a meter to test your circuits with.

For your power window, there could be a break in a wire inside the black rubber sheath where the door hinges are. The wire bends one way and the two pieces pull apart. It bends back and the ends at the break touch. Try hooking up a replacement wire and then run it properly if it fixes the problem.

For the dome light, remove it and test the wires for continuity with the battery ground and positive respectively. You may need to turn the key to on first. If either wire isn't connected correctly, follow it searching for breaks or else just run a fresh wire. If they are ok, the switch on the dome light may be bad. The switch terminals can be cleaned to restore a poor connection.

When i move the door slightly to a closed position but not where it touches, the window stops working.

I understand. Think of it this way. Let's say you cut into a copper wire with a plastic sheath and cut through one side of the sheath, all the way through the wire inside, but not through the other side of the sheath. You then bend the wire towards the remaining plastic sheath all the way back. You end up with two wires side by side and at the tip where you cut it, you have two copper wire ends separated by the little bit of plastic you didn't cut through bent into a U-shape. If you bend the wire straight again, the two copper wire ends that are connected by that little piece of remaining plastic sheath could touch and allow electricity through. This is basicly what I was suggesting might be occurring- a broken wire whose sheath is still keeping the ends together and when the door is in a certain position, the ends touch. You can look for the break in the circuit when the window isn't working by using a meter set to resistance- no resistance is a good connection and infinite resistance is a break. You can also just run a new wire as mentioned earlier.
