Default Carbed crx alt wiring

Hello all, I posted this up on RPR but figured I might as well put it on here too. I was wondering if somebody would be able to give me a hand with an electrical issue I've been having. Has anyone ever traced the alternator wiring for a carbed crx, specifically the white/blue wire from the regulator? My car decided to stop holding a charge one night as I was driving and just managed to limp it home before it cranked out. I tried a bunch of different alternators and none managed to hold a charge until I noticed that there was an extra wire that wasn't connected to anything spliced into the white/blue regulator wire. I connected the extra wire straight to power and the car held a steady 14 volts, however, the battery light came on and there was a massive drain on the battery as soon as I turned the car off. I tried connecting that wire to a bunch of different wires going to power and it still had the same result every time. I've tried reading the wiring diagrams in the original haynes manuals but I'm having a hard time understanding them and I don't really think I'm getting anywhere going off that. I've also checked all of the fuses and they appear to be in good shape. If anybody has some simpler diagrams or has any idea as to whats going on I'd greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Dave
