Considering you said you want to boost in the future, the b18b is the better option imo. Lower compression motor, hence 5he better motor to throw boost on.

A b16a swap for $599? thats cheap as fuhhhhhh. I was gonna say just go with the ls motor if you're gonna go boost. they are cheap and probably just as fast as a b16.
Yes, the b18b is def the more practical and better option than a b16a. The b18b is cheaper, more stock tq, lower compression ( more reliable boost ), easier to swap ( dont have to wire up vtec ), and from what im told they're easier to tune ( told by others ). Just remember, "Horsepower sells cars, its torque that wins races!"
bulls*** b16s are barely faster then d's, that ls will dominate that b16, and b16's and ls's have the same compression the b16 is better on boost because the head is made for high compression
This whole thread is misleading....1st off the link provided for $599 is as mentioned a LS B18B, and is engine"ONLY". The add describes what is included
You would still need axles, tranny, clutch, flywheel, shift linkage, ecu, plus all the little things that shouldn't be over looked such as plugs, oil seals, cap/rotor and some exhaust work at a minimum
The link the OP is claiming is actually $1899, plus you still need axles and shift linkage!!!!!

I daily drive my EJ1 in which I swapped in an LS over 2 years ago. I have driven several B16A powered Civics and I enjoy my B18B1 much more. No, it doesn't rev to 8,000 RPM but for a daily driver IMO its a lot more fun. You have pulling power right on tap from the get go. I often do 2nd gear starts at stop signs, redlights, etc even if the A/C is on.
I do have it mated to a GSR Tranny instead of the LS. I have never used an LS tranny but I love the GSR. A lot of people Dog on the LS, as well as the B20s and categorize them as POS engines. I STRONGLY disagree and think there great engines and I am happy that a respectful person such as Deetz backs them up.
So if its not already made clear, I vote for the LS hands down over the B16A. If you are the type of person that likes to do what most others do to feel like you "fit in", Then you better stay away from the LS and jump on the B16A "bandwagon".
Good luck in your decision.

honestly I would do an ls even tho i love my built turbo b16. If you do ls you can always do lsvtec later with boost. I think the only reason I did b16 was because i got an em1 which is stock motor.
Thats up to you man. Either way your gonna question yourself about your choice in the future if you dont plan ahead. Plan 2 realistic builds. 1 b16a and 1 b18b. After you've seen all your research and hard work on paper then decide which of the 2 you want.
