car wont rev past 7000k
i have a obd0 b16a swapped in my 91 crx. well my problem started when i was throwing code 21 so i checked the wiring and whoever done the swap never hooked up the vtec solenoid so i redone the wiring and hooked it up like it was supposed to then i got code 23. so then i hooked up what i believe was the wire running to the knock sensor so i started it up and i dont have any codes now but my car wont rev past 7000k now sittin in neutral but i havent tried it driving down the road. any help would be appreciated. also whoever done the swap had an extra wire running into the distributer which i think was ran to the ecu where the vvtec solenoid was supposed to hook.
7000 is about 1100 off of redline and the point of getting that high is bc it was doing it fine when i got the car now it wont and if u dont have a possible solution to my problem please dont respond thanks
thats what i done i wired the red wire off vtec solenoid to a8 then the green wire to b5 and hooked knock sensor up to b19, and i just took it up the road still wont rev past 7k and now its throwin code 21 again

ok i fixed all the wiring and wired it up from what i read and stated b4 but im not getting a signal from the ecu to the vtec solenoid or pressure thing but i was revving it up while it was in neutral dont know if the matters if so please help....r the right wires a8 b5 and b19
no need to cry about it. try using another ECU and check to see if it gives you the same result.
hopefully this helps...
i think if your in neutral it won't rev past 7k? try driving past 7k b4 you go nuts with the wiring.
i will try to rev mine when its warmed up past 7k later when i go home from work and see what it does

i did still wont rev past 7 but i grounded the knock sensor and then it goes to bout 7500.....and ok well now ik i do have the wiring right now....i hooked up the vtec pressure switch to batt and it clicks so i guess it works so im pullin my hair out tryin to fig this out
your VSS probably isnt hooked up to the ECU. my car was having the same problem when i first put my swap in. and it wasnt throwing any codes either. i even bought a rywire conversion harness. the PR3 ECUs are from EF8/EF9 civic SiRs and they had an electronic VSS so you will have to run that to the ECU. because without it, vtec wont engage and wont rev past 7k. thats also how the ECU engages the speed limiter.
i just have the VSS ran from the trans to the ecu. it doesnt have to hook up to the cluster. right now i have a USDM Si cluster and my speedo doesnt work but im wiring in my SiR cluster soon. there are 3 wires you have to run. one goes to A2 (main relay ground) A15 (main relay power) and B16 (VSS signal). you DO NOT cut the wires or de-pin, just simply splice the wires from the VSS in to the existing wires that run to your ECU.
if you still have a cable speed sensor in your trans you will have to get an electronic one from a newer B series trans. i have one from a GSR if you need it. it will also help you out alot of you have the plug so you can run the wires easier
u lost me haha i found a place showin everything to do the swap n it doesnt mention that it supposed to pick it uplike it was stock...so r u sayin run a diff cluster or change where the speedo goes to trans
b16blake is right. sounds like you're not hitting vtec.
try and check your oil levels and vtec solenoid.
low oil pressure = no vtec. i think cold starts the car wont hit 7k till it gets normal operating temps and the oil pressures are up there.
