Default Bride Replica Seats...an adventure in mounting....

I will post pics later tonight.

Well, I bought a pair of NEW replica seats from a local NASA racer. MY original goal was just to simply replace the beat-up plastic standard seats. He told me to simply buy the Sparco mounts. Well, I did just that and found out that they do not fit. The square mounting points are over 13" on the Sparco brackets. The square mounting points on the seat are over 14"....

My plans are to simply modify the Sparco brakets, since the material are heavy duty....which I like, I am simply going to grind down the welds, change the mounting points and move them over, weld, drill and tap if needed.

I dont feel so bad, just do to the fact that the seats were dirt cheap....dirt cheap. The brackets cost double for what I paid for them...no worries...

I will try to take pictures of the proces. I am really bad taking pictures while working on the car. I dont like to get my elelctronics dirty......

Okay...I finally had a chance to finish this project.

I modified my Wedge brackets and Sparco driverside rail to fit the seat. One of the seats had a rail with it, so it worked out well. Both brakets had two sets of mounts. I just removed one from the other. The "tube" mount went with the Sparco rail, the "flat bar" went with that other rail.

Tack welded them on first, then test fitted for centering. Of couse I used a MIG and copied the original amount of welds from Wedge. Both brackets were then repainted black. The Driverside seat got the tube mount with the height adjustable Sparo rail, simple bolt on. The flat bar mount, I had to drill and tap for a perfect mount.

Sorry folks...I suck...no pics of the project...as mentioned...its tough for me to take photos while working on the car.

In terms of cost, I spent a total of under $300 for everything. The seats cost me $140 for the pair. I dont know if I really saved any $$ compared to anyother craigslist dealer.

I'll take a better picture of the center soon. I thought so too, until I compared them to my cousin's actual Recaro's.

I did some reseach and found them to be the Bride Ergo replica's. The center pads is "arched"....

Actually, those could (not) be replicas of Recaros and are just merely reps of the Bride Ergo II or the Digo.
