Default Boosted OEM P30, Max ign adv. ?'s

Crome P-28:

Currently I have the car at around 17.25 deg at about 9.4psi... and 15.75 @ about 11.2... on a 57 trim

I have run into problems with ringlands on these pistons, and am a bit shaken by their temperment. Seeing how crome and freelog are limited, I really cannot get a good idea without some det. cans how far to go...

Anyone chime in on what their max adv. is past 6500 on an oem build? Specifically on a 10.5 motor

I run 18deg on every other motor but this one

John, chime in !

Timing values mean nothing if you don't have your distributor synced to your engine management.
Also, Crome = lacks proper ignition timing control = table values don't mean a whole lot = you must tune around this "bug".

Switch to a software that doesn't have issues. Hondata, eCtune, Neptune etc.

If it were that easy, I would just be datalogging the proper parameters and not be asking this.

Of course I have synched the distributor. I am by no means a novice. I havn't taken this particular setup to the dyno yet so I was getting an idea.

I am sure you have tuned several vtec turbo motors W/ oem pistons. Just curious on what others have their ign adv @... aroud the same boost levels... Most of my maps are for built motors... but without logging knock, its hit or miss to me...

Looks like I will be heading to Radioshack to build a $25 set of DET's... Until I stumble across a cheap s300

Not trying to be harsh but what did you expect for a reply?
Some one to come on here & post that their sohc is running X amount of timing at x rpm on crome & have it work for you?
That would then make you feel better about running that value for ignition timing without actually knowing what is going on due to a lack of dyno time, plug reading, det cans etc?

You should tune a built motor no different then a motor with stock pistons when it comes to ignition timing. Detonation is detonation & will hurt any piston (cast or forged).

Asking for such feedback on a forum sounds like a "novice" to me. There is no pride in sounding like an "expert" or claiming your not a "novice".
