The drivers front window grinds and wont go up and down. I found the cause to be the wire that the regulator pulls up and down to move the window is frayed and binding on the track it goes behind.

How do I go about replacing this?

go buy an new one used at a junkyard best bet to a faster fix

 

new door or new piece? how do i get that wire out?

You can't change just the cable; you need a new regulator. Remove your broken regulator from the door. Buy a good used one from a salvage yard and install it. Done.
