How many miles have you put on it in that five months? Was it low on fluid at all?

Are you hard on the car? Do you typically drive aggressively?

MTF isn't terribly thick anyhow, but the fluid doesn't typically "burn" unless there's something wrong with the transmission, overstressed from aggressive driving, or when it hasn't been changed in a very long time. In this case, it sounds like a transmission issue.

You could try putting fresh MTF in it, but I wouldn't expect the noise to go away.
