Manual Transmission "Flush"
I searched, and didn't find this...
What kind/weight of motor oil can I use when "flushing" (changing fluid 3x) my girlfriend's tranny so I don't have to **** $$$ away on MTF for the two fills I'm just going to dump into a bucket?
Also, APROXIMATELY how much fluid will go into a Y8 tranny before it starts to overflow?

Doesn't need to be flushed. Just do a drain and fill.
I'd recommend Honda MTF or GM Syncromesh.
1.9 qts IIRC.
edit: If you do insist on flushing, 10w30 will work.

Re: Manual Transmission "Flush" (t0p_sh0tta)
Considering my girlfriend's tranny is full of metal shavings, yes, it does. Her tranny is in the process of shitting an ISB.
She doesn't have the money to get her new tranny swapped in, and I don't have the tools, time, or facilities to do it myself.
SO.........
What kind of motor oil can I use to "flush?"
PS - Thanks for the fill info.
EDIT: Thanks, I'll try the 10w30.

Yeah, I know it won't fix the ISB .... but it'll get all the metal floating around out. Her tranny has just been sounding rather "dry" lately. I want to help this thing live as long as I can until she gets paid for some details she has lined up.
PS - I wish D's weren't fueled by ISB's, gasoline is a much better alternative.
