Default clock not saving time..

so like my title says my eg usdm clock doesnt save the time..i set it while the car is on and once i turn it off and turn the key its back to 1:00. its not the clock because ive tried 3 different clocks and it happens again. So i was told to wire it to my radio. BUUT..i have 2 questions.
1) Is it safe to wire my clock to the radio??
2) what color wires do i run from my clock to what color wire to my stereo?

Ok something is not right with your wiring. And if Im not mistaken the Clock Radio and fog lights are all on the same circuit. Does your radio save the time?

i would say the 12v constant (always on- connected to battery) is proully not hooked up or not hooked up right. check the wiring. and follow them to the source.

Now that I think of it... if the "backup power" isn't connected to the wire harness on your radio, you may get the same problem. That's what happens on my Mitsubishi anyway... If the wire is connected, the circuit stays open.
