Default taillight and dashlights

so a while back ago my dash and tail lights quit working on my 1992 honda accord. I've checked all the fuses and I just replaced the dimmer relay. Anyone else have this issue, and be will to help me fix mine.

It may affect the parking lights as well, but the dimmer switch that controls your dash's brightness also affects that circuit. If it is bad the lights won't work.

Steal one from a friend?

Should be under $5 from a pick and pull junkyard

you can get a decent craftsman multimeter at sears for around $20, it's the most important tool I own.

Pull the relay out and shake it, do you hear parts moving around it's most likely ****ed

i got a multimeter the other day and i checked the lighting swtich and its good. i was probing a 20 pin connceter under the dash, checking something i got from alldata, and my taillights worked for a few seconds and then shut off, and now they dont come on once again, so i when and check all the fuses again and everything is still good.....any ideas? i had a friend suggest that is was a ground issue but im not sure

sounds something is making intermittent continuity when your lights came on, can you post the diagram? I would shoot for continuity on the power wire and ground wire, also have a buddy move the harness around even shake it to see if you get an open reading

well i can get the diagram from all-data. but it says to check the lighting switch, check continuity between 6,17,18,20 on the 20 pin connector. and when i did it at first there was only continuity between a few of them, then my lights work and all had continuity, now my lights still don't work and they still have continuity

shoot the pins to a ground if you have continuity then you have a shorted wire

If you have a multi meter tester just test any and every electrical connection that has to connect to your problem.. Should be to difficult as long as you find the CORRECT positive & negative connection/wires on each component.

Also your switch its self could be bad. It does tend to happen. My buddies fogs stopped working one day got the lights tested they were fine, checked the wiring harness it was fine than tested the switch IT WAS BAD, it didnt light up either I should mention.

i figured it out. there was a red/black wire that ran to the CD player. and my CD player didn't use it, so i electrical taped it and it ended up getting grounded somehow.

Sounds like a good simple problem but a pain to find out exactly what it was!! haha nice though.

I have a '94 Honda Civic. The dashlights used to work, but suddenly stopped working. they have not worked for about a year now. i am trying to get this figured out. The speedometer is also not working all of the time. It works every once and a while like if i am travelling on long trips. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If u have an aftermarket cd player, check the wires and make sure one is not grounding out.

You might try the dimmer control, If its bad or not connected the dashlights wont work.

But the relays i was checking are under the hood in the main fuse box
