A/C went out? Need help
my A/C stopped blowing cold air in 92 prelude and i am under the impression that they no longer sell the chemical for my air. My prelude runs on The R12 base gas for cold air and recently mechanics almost only use a different gas the F134 i think. in order the get the New chemiacal in my car i would have convert the compressor which is said to cost around $1000, seeing i only paid $1500 for the car this is unreasonable. What should i do? Would i be able to find another solution beides conversions, living in texas during summer with no air makes me feel like im driving hell with me. Solutions????

I work at one but not sure how much the conversion kit costs but just go to the dealer and ask them how much the kit to convert to R134a costs.
You should still be able to get R12; I was at the auto parts store the other day and could have sworn I saw some R12 available. If you want to convert it, just look for a used system. There is somebody selling a complete 5th gen A/C system for $250 in the for sale thread.
I found a mechanic that works specifically on hondas, says that cars of my year they actualy make a specific freon that mimics the R12. So no conversion needed. Thanks guys for the advice anyway!!
