Icon3 h22a swap...no cel!

so i just swapped a jdm h22a into mmy 93 si which had the h23a1
all my lights come on that should when i turn the key to the on positin except the cel. im not getting fuel, the pump isnt kicking on, also no spark
it cranks over fine
im suspecting its a ground wire not connected or possinly a 12volt supply problem
i heard theres a wire that supplies the 12 volts to the engine bay or something along those lines? maybe the resistor box, or main relay?
but if anyone could help
possibly have a link for a thread that tells where all the grounds and such are id appreciate it, cause i bet someone hjas had this problem after a swap before
thanks

I'd say main relay. Substitute a known good one and then trace wiring if that doesn't work.

alright ill go check that out
i should be able to use my dvom to test the resistance in it, or like you said sunstitute a good know relay
i noticed in a diagram there is a ground from the valve cover to the front of the car
is that nessecarily needed?

I don't have my valvecover grounded. But if you're poorly grounded then yeah that could be your problem, but it doesn't sound like it.

well i just hooked up a ground i realized i forgot and now the cel comes on and im also getting fuel
im not a hundred percent sure if im getting spark, i need to check
and im guessing if im getting spark that my injectors could possibly not be pulsing
guess ill check the spark and get some noid lights for the injectors
anybody have anyother ideas
should i try using the p14 ecu from the h23?

oh and i am still using the usdm h23a1 harness with the h22a btw if that matters

another thing i just came across is i heard some people that swapped in a h22 they said they used the h23 dist.
should i try that, maybe its the cause of no spark
im not sure just wondering

alright
soo where do you think i should go from here, about the whole no spark deal?
is there anything that normally causes this after swaps, like a certain wirre that needs hooked up or something? cause this is the first swap ive done
just looking for some guidance, trying to get the damn thing running before i head off to college

so ive look around and im throwin out ideas to see if they are legit reason for a crank w/ fuel but no start
ive heard people talk about a anti theft system on some cars that can cause this, the igniter in the dist, fuse 9 under the dash this was on a itr but im not sure if the preludes use the same for spark, ckp sensor, or the main realy
let me know what you think

I would check the inner coil in the distributor.

alright cause i just hooked up the external coil from the h23 and it sounds different than before like it might be firing but its cranking over slow
i need a new battery and i guess i might as well check out and possibly buy the internal coil or igniter
idk

you should have a ground on your thermostat housing, check that. I had the same problem with a similar setup and that was my cure

yea i traced that ground down lastnight and hooked it up now im getting fuel, and i hooked up the external coil from my h23a1 cause i was told to do so
it now seems like its firing, still not 100% sure til i check it but its not starting
i checked the codes and with the p14 in its throwin a code 41
which is ho2s right?
but why would that cause it not to start

oh and ive eliminated the main relay as the cause due to the fact it powers the fuel pump and such and the fuel pump and all that is working
like i said it sounds different now that i hooked up the external coil like it could possibly be firing but not good enough
should i try the igniter or internal coil?

What year is the JDM H22A? You can find out by removing the stock heatshield and you should see something like this "9 Up Arrow Sign 3" or "9 Up Arrow Sign 6", etc. If its an OBD2 motor, it will have a crank position sensor on the oil pump. You will have to extend those wires to the distributor.

its an obd1 h22a i know that
but anyways i got a new battery for it, and after i hooked up the p14 and external coil from the h23a1 it started idk if the coil mattered
but i know the p13 i got is dead, the cel will come on when i have it hooked up but it wont go out nor will it start with it
only the p14
so should i try getting another p13 or a chipped p28 cause ive heard alot of guys with h22a saying they would rather run a p28 than the p13
