ok so i have a problem with vtec on my b16 in my eg hatch
drives perfect w/no check engine light
i drive it and it pops vtec but quickly deactivates a second after
i don't knw what it could be.


-i wait for the car to warm up
-speedometer works
-have perfect oil level
-have 4 grounds on the motor
-throws no codes


its a b16a2 with ctr pistons and gsr cams thats about it

i just bought an oil pressure gauge and i'm planning on installing it tommorrow
but i can't find the specs on what the oil pressure is suppossed to be at


if anyone has any info for me or want to offer any help please feel free to.

it can be cause you didnt hook up the wires correctly mines wasnt working work cause i took the wires from the wrong car to plug into my ej1

 

try cleaning the selonoid the screen might be lil clogged or dirty

 

its wired correctly my car is an si so it came stock with vtec already wired in

 

so you've boughten it new? Or you bought it and VTEC has always been bad? Just because "it came stock with VTEC" doesn't mean there hasn't been someone messing with it. But clean the screen in the VTEC switch.

 

sorry i dont got a computer so i hardly can get on. but vtec worked with other motors i've had in it. i've already changed the whole solenoid and still the same thing. i bought an oil preesure gauge and at idle its @20psi and at vtec its @83psi and it doesnt drop pressure either. no check engine light turns on either
