Hey Everyone-
Wanted to start a thread about ASR's new coilover setup. I was lucky enough to be connected to Charleston @ ASR through friends at WekSos. Because of their close working relationship they communicate a lot, and they knew that I was one of the few guys in this area that actually tracks their FA5. Charleston mentioned the setup he was producing to them, they mentioned my name to him and fast forward to this weekend where Charleston drove all the way up from LA to meet me in my garage to put them on my car.
Some initial impressions right out of the box is that the concept and build quality is amazing. This is an ingenious setup that integrates OTS Koni Yellow sport struts at all 4 corners. Besides being a quality component, this also means that you can potentially have no downtime if you ever blow a strut, take your corner apart and replace it, back on the road in minutes. The kit also includes rear coilover mount and Hyperco 500lb spring, and the front includes the ASR adjustable machined pillow mount, threaded strut housing, a 400lb Hyperco spring, additional eccentric camber bolt for more adjustment and a proper mount for the brake line & ABS wire. For me the best 2 parts about this kit are the fact that it allow for massive back spacing for a wider rim, Charleston is running 17x9's on his car all the way around with very few issues (decreased steering radius is the largest one). It also allows for ridiculous camber range, right now I am at -3 but it can go up to -5 if you want to get that crazy on the track.
Ill let the pics speak for themselves about the product, but its definitely not for the "show" crowd, this kit was designed to be driven. I haven't been on the track with it yet, we are trying to schedule a day to meet at Buttonwillow so if anyone is interested in meeting out there to get some impressions feel free to PM me offline and we can stay in touch.

Full disclosure: I am not related to ASR in any fashion and I am not benefiting from this post in any way, this is an informative post about another awesome suspension option for us FA/FG track guys.

I'm not sure what will be offered, but I'm assuming that there will be some sort of choice. Charleston has been doing almost a year of R&D on this kit and has determined the 500R/400F rates to be ideal for our cars for mixed track/DD usage. The OTS Konis also have their limits, I don't know how far past 500 you would want to take them.
He is also coming out with a double adjustable kit that will be able to accept the much higher spring rates for track only cars.

The kit uses a custom ASR shock body! So, you can keep your stock one in the garage should you want to go back to stock at some point.
ASR makes some of the cleanest, and best products in the Biz!
So sweet looking!
looks way good!
Charleston makes some innovative and quality products
If i owned an 06 Si. I'd jump on these in a heart beat......KONI+ASR FTMFW!

Height adjustments will range from stock height down to about 3in. The 400lbs/in front and 500lbs/in rear springs is firm but still very streetable.
I've been waiting forever for the ASR 8th gen parts...I really hope they drop soon, I'm not too happy with my current suspension and want something balanced.

I got my car aligned today at Custom Alignment in Mountain View.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/custom-align...-mountain-view
They are probably one of the top alignment shops in this area, and are very well respected. The tech who worked on my car commented on the quality of the ASR setup, and especially liked the eccentric bolt integrated into the shock body for camber adjustment. After I was dialed in with -3F/-2R camber, 0 toe all the way around, I took it out on the freeway and was amazed about how comfortable the ride was compared to HFP.
Cant wait to do some actual track testing, we are shooting for a day at the end of July.

This seems to be what they will be going for.
The price will start around $1400 for the basic kit that uses your own front suspension top mounts and goes up to around $1900 for the kit you see here. The double adjustable version will follow later this year.

Hey Guys
Charleston and I will be at Buttonwillow on 7/31 if anyone is interested in checking anything out.
Ill try to have some videos up throughout the day if I can get some broadband service out there on my card. He is running 255s all the way around to my 225s, and I have bolt ons and a tune compared to his stock engine, looking forward to seeing the differences between the two cars.

tip on the top camber plate if you move that bolt to the center closer to the other one, you will get more camber adjustment

Here are my thoughts after the track event:
The coilovers performed to my expectations on the track. The stiffer springs rates are noticeable on the track, as well as the increased rebound resistance that the Konis offer. I feel that the spring rates ASR has chosen for the car are an acceptable combination for a car that performs dual duty as a track and street car. If my car was a dedicated track car, I would definitely order stiffer rates, but for my car and its application these are perfect.
I got a chance to ride in Charleston's car which is equipped with the double adjustable ASR coilover kit and the ASR 32mm rear sway and the differences were staggering. If you have a track car, this is your setup, hands down. I'm sure details on the kit will be forthcoming, but save your pennies kiddies, you will want this kit

The setup I am running would be more comparable to a V2, which I don't know yet has that been announced? The double adjustable kit which Charleston/ASR's demo FA5 is running is what a V3 would be compared against. I can pretty much say with confidence that both companies will be producing a superior setup for our cars, which is great - the more top quality coilover choices we have for our cars the better.
