I searched throught the forums without being able to find anything helpfull.

OK, heres the deal....
First off car is 93 Del Slow SI-, D16Z6
Recently car doesnt want to start all of the time.
Sometimes it starts like normal and runs great, other times i turn the key and get nothing, after a little while trying to start it I will here a fast clicking sound like a relay opening and closing sparadically, then it will turn over. This problem is becoming more and more frequent and not sure what it may be. Also sometimes the presets on my radio will be gone but I still have plenty of power to start the car, not sure if they are related but both problems started at about the same time.

A guy working at Kragen said it was probably the ignition switch, but at $260 I dont want to swap it out if thats not it. He also mentioned that you could bypass it with a push button to start it if it is the ignition switch. If anyone knows if this is my problem or know what wires to clip and put in a switch it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

 

i had a similar problem but mine would turn on fine sometimes and some other times it will click and drain the battery, i was going crazy, no blown fuses or anything it will just click and drain my battery, so the problem was my main relay was bad, and my ignition wires had some alarm relay from previous owner, i removed it and wired in a new ignition switch from junk yard with new wires and that solved my problem. hope it helps check for alarm relays or any other wires coming out the switch.

 

no alarm, the only wiring that isnt stock is the wiring for the shaved doors that be and a friend did a few years ago and they still work fine.

 

change the main relay and see if that fixes the problem.
