Default Blower motor resistor

Well I just got my new resistor in the mail today . Pulled it out of the packaging, inspecked it and went straight out to the rex to install it. Grabbed my keys to open the door and some of my key tapped the resistor and broke some of the solder (or whatever it is). I installed it and it was a no go at first, so I tapped the blower motor and it started up? It ran for a bit but just kept dying, and now no longer works . My question is do you guys think its my resistor or blower motor?

May be the resister. It could have made contact again when you bumped it

Is there anyway to resolder it? I tried it on my old one but the solder wont stick to it? Im still kinda on the fence though because it doesnt work in any position (1,2,3,or 4). I do have another blower motor in my parts car but I wont be able to get that till this weekend .

Your 4 doesn't work? When mine went out the 4 worked even with out a resistor plugged in

Really? well then its the blower motor. Thanks for the input homie , I was really hoping it was the blower and not the resistor.

If no speeds work at all then it's either your wiring or your blower motor itself. Do you have a DVM just to be sure? If so I can give you a quick way to check it. When you go into 4 or high the circuit bypasses the resistor block all together and gives the motor a full 12V, so if you're not working on high either, thats why i'm thinking it's your wiring or your motor. Don't always rule out a mechanical part if it's run by electricity.

Hi Red-ED8, I just pulled the blower motor on my 92 Accord, and am in the process if replacing ut with a new one, as soon as my, "extra pair of hands" gets here. My question, where is the blower motor resister located. I figure that if that is all that is wrong with the old one, I'd replace it, and save it, as we, that is two of my sons, and I, are collectors of 90-93 Honda Accord Wagons, so we can always use extra parts. One of my sons has a storage rental that has nothing but replacement parts for these vehicles. He has access to parts that have been thrown away, but are still usable, and we all love this particular Accord model, and believe in recucling. I also have a trans com. from my 92 Accord, that I am sure can be rebuilt, if I knew where to send it. I can't believe that hese parts were ment to be thrown away, when it is probably a bad "chip" that can be replaced.
Thanks
