okay..this might sound weird but i'll explain best I can. Alright i have 95 Civic with b16a2 swap..on my tach vtec kicks in at 5,000... but it dont bounce red line till 9,000.. okay..if i leave from dead stop giving it hell shifting at like 8,000 by the time i hit third gear check engine light comes on and vtec stops working..but if i turn car off then back on, Vtec works again?? any ideas??

 

check engine light comes on only when im giving it hell like i said but if i shift at like 6000 vtec works great..its only when i get high rpms

you mean you can check your cel at most autoparts store?

yes that would be true if he had an obd2 vehicle. he does not however and will need to count the blinking cel on the gauge cluster.
