Icon6 car is running to rich & smoking black (sohc v)

^^^ whats wrong. ive been told its a sensor but idk, i have a stock d16y8. wasting gas like hell & smokes black. i have a p28 , car has no cat, stock everything. i have NO IDEA what it can be

well i guess its possible your o2 sensor has some issues, or possibly your map sensor... ECT sensor might do it as well.


those are the only 3 things off the top of my head i can think of, although if you dont have any CEL's then I don't know.

If your o2 sensor is failing but your ecu thinks its normal, it will start dumping fuel. A plugged FPR could do that too, but usually they just fail open and have no fuel pressure.

What else was done to the car & ecu? A chip? I/H/E?? Upgraded fuel pump? Not-stock FPR??

everything is stock, & the car dosent have an 02 sensor, might that be the problem ? & how can i solve it w.out buying 1. chip the ecu maybe ?

You need an 02 sensor on a stock ecu...
no one should need to reply after this post.


You need an o2 sensor... hands down.. done.

Car needs the right computer if the P28 running it is not chipped already and tuned for that setup. P28 is for D16Z6 and is running alot more timing than the D16Y8 wants, needs, and likes. So if you have a stock P28 computer without an O2 sensor, you might have 2 problems....
